ALLIANCE COUNCIL:
Governing non-military heads of state. May dictate political policy
ALLIANCE MILITARY COUNCIL:
Governing military heads of state composed of the following military personnel: Supreme Commander, Chief of Military Staff, Chief of Security, Region 1, Chief of Security, Region 2, and three(3) High raking Officers solely appointed to the AMC.
CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE:
Division of Security/Intelligence. Often used for observation of Fleet vessels.
COMMAND SLING:
Sometimes called the Center Well. Usually recessed into the floor of the main bridge. The commanding officer of the bridge, directs operations from this point. Certain key functions may be operated from this point only, through an override command. Note: Ships with a Battle Bridge - command sling lowers one level in crisis situation for battle bridge access.
CRAWLER:
Name applied to land vehicle used by Alliance for transportation of bulk objects across planetary surface. Large, flat platform bed on six anti-grav generators, with maneuvering generators placed around ridge for horizontal movement.
DREADNOUGHT:
Similar to a heavy cruiser class star ship in construction. This vessel contains and additional drive engine, mounted on top of the mail hull. This vessel is generally used as a Flag vessel or weapons support to the Fleet.
FLITTER:
One or two person land vehicle used on most advance Class M planets. Rides on a cushion of air. Often referred to as a land viper.
HEAVY CRUISER:
Interstellar craft, capable of a crew compliment of over 400. May be used for research or as a fighting vessel.
HUMMER:
Land vehicle used on most advanced Class M planets. Riding on a cushion of air, the vehicle makes a humming sound.
KILOMETER:
A unit of measure being .7 of a statute mile. Commonly called "clicks".
LISMA:
Abbreviation for Life Information System Monitor Alert. Used by Star Fleet Headquarters to constantly monitor the physical/mental conditions of Away Teams. By use of LISMA ship's commander able to formulate command decisions relating to away team in the event of no communication with same.
NEUTRAL ZONE:
An area of one thousand parsecs of space separating territories. Entrance into this area by an alien vessel may be interpreted as an act of war. (1000 parsecs = 1 kilo-parsec)
NOMAD:
Navigational Operations Machine-Intelligence Analytical Device, N.O.M.A.D. The NOMAD series computers list from one through nine. NOMAD eight and nine are bio-electric units, capable of independent thought process.
NOMAD IMPLANT:
Device which is surgically implanted at the nape of the neck. This enables the host to communicate with the unit through telepathy.
PARSEC:
A distance measure of space. A parsec is 3.26 light years. 1.92 x 10 to the 13th power, miles. 3.08 x 10 to the 13th power, kilometers.
P.D.W. BLACKOUT DEVICE:
Particle Disruptor Wave. Enables Fleet vessels (Shenandoah Class) to disrupt the path of oncoming weapons to avoid a direct hit.
PHOTON TORPEDO:
A projectile weapon, common to most Alliance military vessels. Weapon will detonate on contact with matter or high energy shields.
QUADRANT:
A sector of space running from the optimum center of the known galaxy, to the outer edge. The size of a quadrant, may vary in relation to the planetary systems within that given area.
QUANTUM DRIVE:
A matter anti-matter engine capable of speeds in excess of ten times the speed of light.
RAPER:
One person land vehicle capable of high speeds and maneuverability. Rides on a cushion of air. Equipped with phaser cannons. Illegal on Alliance worlds.
RETICULI:
A reference line used in mapping and navigational procedures.
SPECIAL FORCES:
Division of Security trained for unusually adverse situations.
STAR BASE:
A space docking and repair facility capable of internal and external docking.
USS ALLIANCE:
Intergalactic Flag Vessel. Class 1-M Dreadnought. NCC-2113.
USS VINDICATOR:
Experimental Class 2 dreadnought, NCCX-2621
USS XTRO:
Experimental Class 2 dreadnought, NCCX-2620
VECTOR:
A navigational reference point.
