Quantum Generators| Type 2 Cloaking Device| Alliance Data Base
The quantum drive is based on the amplification of the "Neutrino" particle in relation to anti-matter. This particle when introduced to anti-matter accelerates to speeds far beyond the speed of light. Quantum Generators trap the particle and focus its forces. As power build up begins, plasma energy fields hold the reaction and keep it in check until needed. The shields main power source is the reaction itself. As the power builds so do the shields. At predetermined energy levels, the particle is allowed to escape to the next reactor, and so on. Quantum reactors are set in groups of four separate chambers per engine. When the particle has reached the last chamber it is cycled into the first. The power generated by this process has never been tested to its limits. Power tapering is affected by control of the generators themselves. Generator power may be channeled back to the reactor if other systems fail. A starship powered by Quantum with total power loss can re-channel engine power to run most life support systems until normal power is restored.
Plasma barriers are used to contain reactions and will automatically shut-down when Warp 14 is achieved.
